KT: While the story started off interesting, the lead up to the premise of the story felt as if it could have occurred sooner, given the format of short film. Appreciated the world building and how real the characters felt.

KT: You, Me & Tuscany resonates with the parts of us that yearn for love, healing and living our dreams. The family dynamic was an interesting exploration but also divided the time between romcom and self discovery.

KT: Riz Ahmed finds a perfect outlet to explore broad commentary on visual representation and perhaps reflections of his own experiences. It hurts when it digs deep but that’s art.

KT: In the pursuit of power and acceptance, the spoils are granted to the lovers. Predator boasts decades of rich lore, but Badlands finds its heartbeat in the story through character dynamics and growth.

KT: Played too straight to be satire and not succinct enough to be a critique, Creggers relies on his signature aesthetics for Weapons.

KT: From Young Rock and now The Smashing Machine, Johnson’s desire to dig deep is met with a reluctance to be vulnerable. Paired with signature head-inducing Safdie storytelling, we never quite feel like we are being told the whole story, just the glory.

KT: Scanning the horror genre, M3GAN is still processing to form an identity of her own. While there were enhancements in ‘maturity’, the bug for ‘overall tone’ remains. It’s fun when the story isn’t tethered to real world implications.

KT: 28 Years Later leans more on shocking scenes to convey sharp emotion. A solid ensemble that sometimes didn’t have the space to explore the deeper themes hinted at.
