Um, I wouldn't necessarily say it was an isekai but you know how sometimes when you have an isekai where people are feeling a certain way about their lives and this is a way for them to reinvigorate themselves.

4:37KT: This is kind of where we are, where, you know, unremarkable in every way, um, and potentially have the chance to rise up and feel something within yourself.

4:47Oti: Oh, a hundred percent. We get to a protagonist and bite into his sort of world where, you know, you've got your nine to five, it's shit as

And just navigating that to the point where when shit changes, you know, and we are given interesting morsels, like we're always intrigued to find out more about the world, to learn about, oh, what's happening? You know, it's not just about assuming whatever identities, but it's. Even how the show ended, you are left with so much questions.

5:29Oti: You're like, oh, I thought I knew what this anime was going before, but No.

7:19Oti: I think every time this sort of, I dunno, it, it felt very um. Distracting to some point.

7:29Oti: whereas with something like Quantum Cowboys where it felt like they were telling a different story or they're giving different feels for each sort of action or iteration of the story, this just felt like, I don't know, maybe it's the run time in terms of how much they fit the different styles. That was a bit off putting for me, but I did say

7:50KT: I'm, I'm sorry for someone that watched Kingdom. You cannot complain. You cannot complain about animation styles. I can. Because I, when it throws me off, it throws me off. But you can't, sir, don't let me do a Google search on the Kingdom animations.

8:14KT: and you are also fine with the latest seasons of Attack on Titan when MAPPA took over. You seem fine with that animation as well, so, so I don't think

8:31Oti: It felt like a PowerPoint presentation at times.

It didn't bother me. Um, like I thought, I thought this was a lot of fun. I thought. Um. For bros that don't need to kiss their bro mans on the mouth. This was like a JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. Without that,

9:09KT: without the erotica of loving your brother. Like I really enjoyed it and you know it. Is very new. It is a beloved franchise in the game as well. So we definitely don't wanna spoil it for learned fans and those that are new. Um, to check out this series, I would say it's very tantalizing. I am very excited by the pull of the world. And you literally just complained about Lazarus, that you were parkouring like Jason Derulo the whole time. Um. This actually has heart strings and it does. It has that good versus evil. And whenever it's something versus humans, I'm always going for something. Oh wow. Call me Denzel KT Washington.

9:58Oti: Yeah. Um, the storyline I did love, um, there's a lot of promise in where it's going to go. Um, again, lovable characters that we get to see, um, that we get to root for. And hopefully once we get, or at least I get accustomed to the styling, everything else just falls into place because there's a lot of progress with this anime.

11:49Oti: I agree. The show is Solo Leveling, so it's always about him sort of becoming this master powerful, whatever, what. Sort of took me aback in the season.

12:03Oti: Was he, he, he's already stronger than everyone in the world.

Okay, so, so I, I, I guess we just need to clear the air for a second because Demon Slayer got the same treatment years ago. That chat was wild and it was very slanderous of Demon Slayer and I feel like Demon Slayer is one of those anomalies where like, it, it's popular but it's actually very good as well. Right.

13:17KT: but like I still feel a way that my daddy, Captain Levi didn't get that, that that horny Splooshy action scene of him on the Beast.

13:28KT: So, so to have Demon Slayer win over that, um, action sequence is still something I think about. But my point is people love shitting on popular shit, right? Go and check out my review of Barbie friends and lovers. I think Oti is still scared to touch that, but, um, like, I, I get it. I understand it, but like it didn't deserve all of the shit that it was getting just 'cause it's popular just because it's a shonen, right. Um, I feel like Solo Leveling is getting that. Now it's, it's so interesting because, um, like, you know, if I pull up my weeby hips, the glasses, no one was really talking about Solo Leveling in the first season.

14:07KT: Baby Jinwoo wasn't really out in these streets discussion wise. So it's cool to see that Solo Leveling season two is getting more popular, but it is also getting a lot of slander as well, which is a bit cumbersome to me. And I'm also someone that didn't fully love it, like, for example. We usually have our Sunday anime. Yeah. We had Apothecary Diaries, we had Solo Leveling, we had Bucchigiri, we had Kaiju No. 8, and I think we usually chose that order.

14:35Oti: Mm-hmm.

14:35KT: Right. Until we Bucchigiri too close to the sun and, and we kind of dropped that out of our rotations. It's kind of remind me of Gintama.

14:44Oti: Mm-hmm.

14:44KT: Right. Um, yeah, we Bucchigiri too close to the sun, but you know, I enjoyed Kaiju No. 8 more than I did Solo Leveling, but I still enjoyed it. Right. And I think that's the whole point at the end of the day, like you can, I guess you can also hate watch it, but if we go back to the most recent, uh, season of Solo Leveling, you know. If we, whenever you would watch Dragon Ball Z, for example, this is the quintessential example where I, I mentioned Goku. I talk about, uh, Superman. I even talk about Jesus in, uh, what's your racist-ass Mel Gibson's movie again?

15:21KT: the Christ. Passion of the Christ. Like we need Goku, Jesus, and Superman, Jesus Christ. The big three. The big three in alien law, friends and lovers. I said it, um, but like you tell me, Goku's the strongest, then that makes him the strongest, right? However, even when you're watching Dragon Ball Z, there are always. There are, there are always other opponents, right? Even if they're not touching Goku like that. You've got Cell, you've got Frieza, you've even got long life forever, Ji. Mm-hmm. Right? Like you've always got opponents, you've always got rivals, right? Ain't nobody touching Jinwoo, and that's not even a flex.

16:18Oti: And this is where, like I said, it shifts for me this season into who the hell is going to compete with Jinwoo,

16:27KT: but that's the way they've set up the world. That's what I'm saying. That's why it's frustrating because. Even if he thinks he's top shit. 'cause let me just say at the end of season one, spoiler, spoiler, spoiler, but if you've watched season two, it's not a spoiler. When Daddy Baek tapped him on the shoulder, when he came out of that gate to like sun him and Jinwoo is like, fuck you man. I'm tired. Really? And he just let Mans leave. Yeah. Oh, what the fuck do you think he is? But that's my point. Right? So, so, so, so Daddy Baek. He's supposed to be one of the strongest ones, right? S-rank all of this, right? One of the only ones to make it outta Jeju Island like, and now he's a little peon, like he's a bit of a nothing. And it's like, okay, fine. Man's just got a whole shadow army.

17:23KT: He's got a whole necromancy. Not only does he have Igris, but now he has the intelligible insect bugman. A

17:31Oti: and, and this is where, like we were talking about this the other day and you said that all these strong people might be more useful as shadow armies. Yes. Or 5G, who rather than just being.

17:52Oti: No, we know there's things coming. We know that, you know, Jinwoo's sort of dad has been shown here and there. The people who are stronger who can, you know, sort of sense and being like, oh, let's live him here to wonderful. But like, there's definitely strong or maybe as strong a people as Jinwoo. Mm-hmm. It's just a matter of. It's, it's about that time we get to start seeing them because having them walk out here and there, living one word or two doesn't gonna, is, is not gonna cut it because fuck, the S-rank. They, they're just nothing at this point.

21:14Oti: Mashle charms with its lighthearted tone, muscle-over-magic absurdity. It's full of laughs and never takes itself too seriously. Just a genuinely fun ride.

21:27KT: There are undeniable comparisons to others, but Mash comes into his own as a protagonist that is endearing, determined, and cares about the world around him. Oh.

21:39Oti: He is like, na. Root one gone, wrapped into one. Uh,

I am partial to a re like, um, very cold, uh, sort of emotionless characters that warm up after time. Oti, I'm looking at you.

22:55KT: and I was correct in that instance. And to be fair, he was too cool to be hanging around those goofy people. But then they made him ridiculous in a way that I didn't. I cannot condone what's, those are those cities, those are those cities in Japan that I would not be visiting. Um, that's where Oti would go and get his body pillows, I guess is a way to say. Um, but I just loved it. I think it works. I think it's a lot of fun. I, I think it's, it's hard to strike a balance of. Heart and emotion. And it's, it's exactly like you're saying because he has those speeches, like you would have Naruto on the ground, like his whole body, like dissipated and him doing a very emotional speech.

23:40KT: Right. Mash manages to do that, but not in a heart wrenching way.

23:50Oti: Yeah. And, and this is where like this show just hits on different levels. You, you find yourself watching five episodes in a row. Yeah. And you, there's heartfelt moments that are not like, oh my God, tear-jerking shit.

24:08Oti: But they're still fighting for something that it should be universally accepted. It is just one of those anime that you can't not like.

24:18KT: Yeah. Yeah. Absolutely. Um, and you know, I, I do feel a way towards Oti because you said we had 25 episodes. Ha. And I guess it's like there will be 25 episodes. So we've got an up to 24 friends and lovers. Um, and now we're edging our way into the final, um, one, I don't really wanna spoil too much about this. I think this is more just because we love it and we wanna love, um, all over it. Do you have a favorite character?

I, I could go for 40. Give a, give me a Monster run, you know? Yeah. Monster. We felt like, well, Monster wasn't even enough. That was like 50, but at 50, at 40, I was like, bro, this could have been a bit shorter and bit tighter with, with, with Fable, I, I wanted the longer run.

Um, and I think, you know, isekai is a big, uh, subgenre and I think the, also, like retiring Yakuza is also like a, a nice little subgenre that, um, we've been watching, like I said, Way of the Househusband, which I was really excited for until, um, I don't think it was a storyboarding, I think it was just the general tone of it. Mm-hmm. Um, and then Sakamoto Days. We're enjoying that as well. Friends and lovers, I'm sure eventually we'll cover that. But I, I would say Fable is my favorite in regards to like, retired yakuzas that like literally just want to live a life and to have joy. There's so much that I want to say, but it will spoil it.

30:14Oti: handle her own. She does. But life, and this is the thing, right? It shows you life comes in just fucking the most brutal ways ever.

30:24KT: I like how it's also like there is a nod to the interconnectedness of the organization. Mm-hmm. And how there are certain sort of, I guess, traditions or there are certain rules that you wouldn't cross even if you're outside of the organization.

30:40Oti: Mm-hmm.

30:41KT: Um, and, and how that will get treated. And it really, it really, um, soaks up. All of the expression that you can have in an anime, because yes, there is that Yakuza element. Yes, there is the interconnectedness and you know, the, the sort of character dynamics. But again, with Jackal's character, we get something far more exciting, far more fun, and far more playful than you would get in a straight drama, even in anime like Monster, for example.

31:14KT: right. And you know, if we're gonna do a double pairing this and Common Side Effects would be a lot fun. If you watch those back to back, then you can fucks with us. Mm. Uh, friends and lovers. But Fable is so great and I love how mature it is. I love how it's, it's,
