Summary

Resident Evil Review

First up is a detailed discussion of the latest Resident Evil offering. Both KT and Oti share their excitement about returning to the familiar yet fresh world of Resident Evil, filled with camp, hijinks, and the jump scares fans have come to love. They ponder whether the campiness is a core feature of the franchise and chat about their overall impressions of the film, highlighting its playful nods to horror tropes.

Alphabet Soup: A Queer Dating Docuseries

Next on the agenda is Alphabet Soup, a six-part docuseries available on multiple streaming platforms. Directed by Shannon Alexander, this documentary explores the vibrant dating lives of various individuals in New York. KT reflects on how the series presents dating's interconnected messiness while allowing its subjects to be authentically human. The docuseries focuses on the hosts but delights with its organic, unfiltered storytelling.

Cupertino: Pilot Setup

KT and Oti then turn their attention to Cupertino, a promising new pilot that has captured their interest. The show is described as a procedural with unique flair, courtesy of creators known for hits like Evil and The Good Wife. Oti appreciates the engaging pilot and notes how it sets the stage for what could become a weekly treat. Meanwhile, KT hopes she can be as much of a delight to Oti as one of the show's stars.

Why The Kings Work

In this section, the hosts discuss why certain creators repeatedly capture viewers' attention, citing the charms of The Kings' vibrant dialogue and character interactions. Although it may not immediately captivate everyone, the promise of a compelling story and the potential for gripping character dynamics keep KT and Oti invested in this new show.

Mike Colter and Chemistry

The discussion shifts to Mike Colter, one of KT’s favourite actors, whose presence in Cupertino adds a particular allure. While Colter's charm might not be universally recognised in every role, his involvement brings a unique quality to the series. The hosts acknowledge the potential for the show's characters to develop more chemistry as it progresses.

Big Tech Satire and Stakes

Cupertino explores the tension between big tech and the underdog, capturing KT‘s interest through its portrayal of tech giants in an unflattering light. Despite any shortcomings, the show offers a thought-provoking look at a world where the little guy can triumph over corporate greed.

Wrap Up and Recommendations

As the episode winds down, KT and Oti reflect on what they've been watching lately, including anime, The Great British Bake Off, and the docuseries Million Dollar Secret. They also look forward to upcoming screenings, including Clayface and a potentially controversial remake of The Devil.
