Summary

Cold Open Chaos: Street Fighter, Nostalgia vs. Reality

Our latest episode begins with a charming chaos, exploring the nuances of another video game adaptation that set an unexpected tone in the Foyer Reference household. While tackling the Street Fighter adaptation, KT and Oti dive into the mixโ€”nostalgia painted Oti's initial impressions while KT highlighted the tired bro vibes prevalent throughout the film.

Oti fondly reminisced about his gaming roots, emphasizing his connection with the iconic characters and the nostalgic mix of animation and live action. In contrast, KT critiqued the film's dated humor and narrative pitfalls, noting the shallow representation that leaned heavily on bro-centric humor and extraneous indulgences that did little to honor beloved characters authentically.

Power Hierarchy and Film Bro Humor

As the conversation progressed, the discussion touched on power hierarchies and indulgent humor that, according to KT, detracted from the promise and potential of the film. Oti echoed similar sentiments, disappointed by the persistent bro-centric narrative that overshadowed promising storytelling elements. The duo debated whether such adaptations underestimate audience introspection by leaning into superficiality over substance.

Shifting Gears: Legal Dramas and More

Transitioning into other territory, KT and Oti explored the allure of legal dramas with a focus on War, featuring acclaimed actors Dominic West and Sienna Miller. KT noted the gripping nature of the show, appreciating its power dynamics and character development that kept audiences on their toes. The particular blend of charm Dominic West brings to the screen was emphasized, making what could be conventional narratives extraordinarily delicious as Oti so aptly phrased.

Exploring Carrie: A Modern Take on Classic Horror

The podcast episode wrapped with an intriguing exploration into the new adaptation of Carrie. Despite initial reservations about the need for a TV adaptation, KT found herself drawn into the effective storytelling and fresh predicaments the series presented. Although the momentum felt stretched towards the finale, Summer H. Howell's emotive portrayal of young Carrie thwarted any disappointment, bringing rich emotions into the narrative. It was the heartwarming and raw interactions between characters that truly set the series apart.

Full transcript of Street Fighter, War & Carrie.

KT: It's another week in the For Your Reference household. And while by definition, it is another video game adaptation, we are sorely, sorely mistaken in all of our burgholes.

Oti: Wow.

KT: Right? Grab a snack. It won't help this film, but I'm very excited to talk about it. Mhmm. Let's get on with the show. Hey, friends and Oti make it clap lovers. Welcome back to the For Your Reference podcast with our host, KT. And Oti. Wow. Are you cool to start the show with Street Fighter, or do we end with it? How fiery are you feeling, my love?

Oti: Right? Let's start with it. Yeah? Okay.

KT: Friends and Lovers, Street Fighter, War, Carrie. We have watched all of Carrie, by the way, Friends and Lovers. But, yeah, let's start off with Street Fighter. Yeesh. I'm very excited for you to hear my full quote. And also, not only are we an independent podcast, we are individual critics, so you can't even mansplain me, Oti. Wow.

KT: Okay. Are you ready? And we're non spoilering. Right? Yeah. The only thing that spoil is your money and your time, friends and lovers. Jeez. But, yes, give us your first impressions non spoilers, my love.

Oti: Nostalgia is a hell of a drug,

Oti: and Street Fighter solves it in spades. Alongside some delightful animated sequences, both carry the fun through much of the first half. But eventually, even their combined charm isn't enough to sustain the ride.

KT: Kind of you.

KT: Street Fighter's bro vibes feel dated in its salivating over female characters and tiresome in its vapid shallow attempt at humor. Characters that were essentially male self inserts wasted great casting and costuming of core characters. Fuck you, Andrew Schulz. Actually and in the context of the film, fuck you, Eric Andre. Fuck you, 50 Cent, just generally. Fuck you, Jason Momoa. We've seen it. Fast X did it. We've seen you do this fucking character. Big whoop. You put a scrunchie in your hair. So do I. You're not special.

Oti: Damn. Well,

KT: and also love Kyle Mooney, but fuck his boner character. Yeah. Alright. Well, feel free to there's no layers there, but feel free to go. So

Oti: the opening sequence, I'm not going to write non spoiler, But the opening sequence of this movie had me. It just turned to KT and I was like, I'm in. I'm hyped for this. And you know what? That was like the mixed media of of animation and live action. I love that. You know, it's not it sort of took me to the not maybe to the level of quackiness that Quantum Cowboys did it. Don't you ever use Exactly. And that's why it stops. That's why it stops.

Oti: That's why it stops. I know. I cringe this moment I said it. But still, I love that. And I think being a a massive fan of the game growing up, you know, I played Street Fighter a bit more than I did MK growing up as well. So seeing some of my favorite characters come to life in this was just such a a throwback moment, and it just sustained me. I was there for it. Was giving it grace while it stumbled upon itself

Oti: because everything else was pushed to the back, and I was just there having fun. Turned my brain off, watched it. And there's only so much you can do, or at least there's only so much that can take you with the hopes that I you know, it would give us a bit more of the tournament stuff or it'd give us a bit more to cling onto regardless of whether or not they wanted, you know, whatever the fuck the story was trying to tell. I just

Oti: it it it it captures me for a bit, and I'm not shy to admit that it brought the kid in me just fucking loving the franchise. Yeah. And then you grow up.

KT: Honestly, and I I put it on me Letterboxd. I was like, feels like Logan Paul would love this movie. And I mean that in the most derogatory way. It feels like either right before or right after watching this Street Fighter, you're watching BMX on the White House lawn. Like, it's literally, Mortal Kombat came out this year, literally in the same year. So I don't think that was doing Street Fighter any favors. But even the fact that I wasn't expecting to take the title of film bro this year, Friends and Lovers, the fact that Nolan,

KT: at least in our recording, my love understands women and female rage more than you did in the recording. We now live in a world, in a society where women are allowed to be human in the context of a film or be it even fictional. For example, The Odyssey. I don't think a film like this plays anymore.

KT: Shout outs to Tim. Love love love Tim popcorn podcast. I was just listening. It's one of the one reviews I can listen to because we've watched it. And he was talking about the humor being so flat and how homoerotic it was, and it was just juvenile. And I absolutely agree with it. It was a loser. Like you said, as a kid, yeah, grow up. Like, it's loser y. I poke your butthole. Like,

KT: that's like big whoop. Like, what is the point? Know. It was stupid, but the first half and at at like I said It can be what it is, and you're also a man. And it's it's no no fault through any of us, but unfortunately, that's where we are today. It is.

KT: It is. And I think Because it makes no sense. So so I am making the manuscript very clear in this, but we we obviously have other stuff to cover today. But friends and lovers meet me for a repartee if you do have the capacity and the depth to go through such a critique. But let's go into power hierarchy. We're obviously not gonna spoil anything. Not since Game of Thrones have we seen people involved in the production

KT: be more important than the fucking story. Because fuck Andrew Schulz, I even said to you, I don't really care to see this. Mhmm. But if you wanna watch it, we'll go and watch it. Even in my head, we would have reviewed it on the podcast, but I wouldn't have put it as a pull quote of Rotten Tomatoes until I saw the fuckfest that it was. And I'm like, yes. You get my my green sploosh.

KT: I'll go and get medicated. But for now, it's a green sploosh on Rotten Tomatoes, and I will proudly put it there. But fuck that guy. And he was there the whole movie. And he was in circumstances that made no sense. Even as a little boy in your wet dreams, it makes no sense that you would be,

KT: first off, lasting till the end of the movie. That's not even a spoiler because what the fuck does what the fuck is that? And he was also going toe to toe. You should have disintegrated in the face of even the lesser characters. How the fuck are you there? It's bro. It's male podcaster y. It's it's invite Donald Trump

KT: to your platform.

Oti: He definitely had a bigger part than what I thought he would. Because even watching the trailer going into this, I was like, oh, maybe he's You can ignore him a bit. Yeah. Yeah. Like, he he wouldn't be in every fucking scene. Yeah. But he was. I just like

KT: Hot Asian woman. Really? And speaking of fuck Eric Andre. Like, I I actually I can't believe I have to say this and it's gonna be on the podcast. I missed the days where his juvenile humor was showing us his ass. Like, give us that. We instead of this

KT: him trying to grovel to some pretty blonde woman, it's like, bro, that's not even embarrassing or funny to watch because I feel like you would pay to do that. It's not that you would do it for free. You would pay to do that. So you denigrating yourself in front of a pretty blonde woman doesn't do shit. Yeah. It just felt indulgent. 50 Cent was in a fight that made like, he he should not have been going toe to toe in the fight that he was in, and he's like, I gotta get my licks in before you throw me off. Like, you know what I mean? Like, the power hierarchy didn't give a fuck or didn't care about

KT: the law.

Oti: 50 Cent's soundtracks in the movie as well to boot. He can piss off. So I love David Dastmalchian so so much. Yeah. And I could not I did not think someone could make him look like he couldn't act. It was wild. Interesting. I I was

KT: I think he like, you know when you're at home and you just have the ingredients and it's not necessarily what the recipe is telling you, we're watching Great British Bake Off friends and lovers. I think he just he he made what he could out of the material that was there. You said he was like our guy from Tokyo Ghoul, but I said, unfortunately, the writing made him look like a Super Mario villain. He did. And and and just reflect, like,

Oti: Late Night with the Devil and, like, you know his quality. We don't take the credentials away. And There was also Suicide Squad. Right? Yeah. And and I'm like, it's a pity he had to do this role because it it I don't even know what the fuck that was. But it's not like De Niro. Like, this is not gonna tarnish it. It's not gonna tarnish anything, but it's like He he is not the

KT: I don't think there is a sum of of the sinking of the Street Fighter Titanic. But if there were any fails, it wasn't necessarily to do with Dastmalchian. I know a lot of people, even we weren't very sure about him as Bison. Right? I with the way that he was positioned in the film, which Friends and Lovers, if we were to get to a deeper level of in silly sniveling male entitlement, but again, apparently, we don't have the time. But if we were going to get to that, him being scrawny and and losery

KT: makes sense, like, visually, but I really would have liked the Jacked Bison. Like, I feel like that could have just been what it was instead of him trying to but you can also be a big, like, chunky guy fading off power. But, yeah, I I don't think he made or break it. I'm sick of Jason Momoa. Maybe the other half can fight me, but this this this current KT right now, I'm sick of seeing that character. Like, even when he did it on SNL, like, enough.

Oti: You know, the weird thing was, used to be my favorite character fighting in the game.

KT: Really?

Oti: Yeah. Fuck why you fucking? Guile was it, What?

KT: And that he is just I liked Guile. He was you know you know what part of the problem for me, it's not just tonally because the humor was very vapid. Like I said, Guile was great. I think Ken is cool too, but they made Ken a main character in a world where Ryu exists, which makes no sense.

KT: But Guile was cool too. I think they're just like they're like Creed in The Office. Like, you shouldn't give them too much screen time. Like, the deliciousness is in the moments that you get with them. But because and I if if it's the writing, and I guess I can be kind if I guess so, like, it's the studio maybe giving notes in regards to the writing, but I liked him. I I thought Guy was pretty cool. I think they made him too too.

Oti: What was the guy in model called Makena? He he felt a bit too much like he wanted that sort of character in this. Ah. I was like, to me, he he was never that.

KT: Okay. Okay. Like a very serious straight laced fellow. Yeah. Okay. Speaking of, I don't think there was necessarily a straight man in this movie. And I think that's also what tips the scales on on the tone of this film because no one was serious. Also friends and lovers, I will say in my heart, I felt O'Rory Wood Junior residue because you see Mortal Kombat and you see how cool and like different cultures are in Mortal Kombat. And there's like a piousness. There's a respect. There's a reverence to the world of Mortal Kombat.

KT: Street Fighter felt like bullying. Like, even like with Ryu and his ramen and, you know, they they were obviously these random people were like making fun like these little Chet Hanks in the February were like making fun of him. Say take your stinky homeless ramen somewhere else. And then you see Chun-Li and he's like, I'm a simple ramen make I it just it felt like, again, male bro podcasters making fun of everyone else. Like, who you are culturally isn't okay, and you should be embarrassed.

KT: And, again, the fact that Ken was such a main character in this made no sense to me because you're the Pippen. Did I do a reference?

Oti: You did a reference. You did a sports.

KT: I did a sports. Thank you very much. But you know what I mean? And it's like, you know what? I also Andrew Koji, the only affiliation we have is we were on the red carpet and we were also able to interview the lovely Simon McQuoid who directed Mortal Kombat.

KT: I hope one day you get to be in a franchise that really utilizes your talent. I feel sorry he had to be in this movie. Koji is too talented to be in this. There were too many male self inserts in this. And I think just like the the last thing I guess I would wanna say in regards to Street Fighter, aside from fanfare, aside from manosphere, aside from power hierarchy,

KT: this script was not focused at all.

Oti: Mhmm. Yeah. No. It felt all over the place. And that's why it's like, okay. So once everything, then we'll start you on the thing ran off, you're like, okay. So now I have to focus on what's this? Yeah.

KT: And then you But I feel like the costuming looks so great and we didn't even I feel like if you're gonna show us a character, at least let them have one fight.

Oti: Yeah. And maybe the hope to me, the hope would have been just focus on the tournament itself and let's just have fun with it as opposed to trying to have the sort of male gaze around all the fucking female characters at every each point. Yeah, exactly.

KT: And even like commenting on Chun-Li's thighs, even though they made a female character say it's like, come on, man. Yeah.

Oti: Yeah. It felt like Lineman's Tony Sheridan

KT: on fucking ass. You know his name is Taylor Sheridan because because I've called him your man the past two podcast recordings. I wasn't even gonna mention him today. That's how much you miss your man's,

KT: Taylor Sheridan.

Oti: Oh, it's Taylor. Oh, I don't know.

KT: Shout out to Vidyut who plays Dhalsim. You know? He he was the most I think he he he took most of my attention in this film.

Oti: Yeah. He his fight scenes felt a bit I don't know what maybe it's the game ruining for me, but it felt like, you know, when you're watching Shyamalan's Avatar and doing the It was on a good start. Doing the rock Yeah. Earth bending. Yep. And it was like a pebble being lifted. I felt

Oti: it was so I think by focusing on Dhalsim and things slowing a bit of the stuff or maybe for us to see it better. Yeah. It felt a bit too

KT: No. But I don't think this movie took anything seriously. So there was no reverence to I guess. But there was no reverence to obviously, he has a fight style, but that is informed by culture. And I don't think that this film gave space to honor that element.

Oti: No. Maybe. Yeah.

KT: But since you enjoyed it the most, I guess, do you wanna end off on what you enjoyed in this film? Being

Oti: back in the world, seeing just the characters that you grew up watching and seeing some good fight sequences when they did fight. Yeah.

KT: Everything else was just yeah. Alright. Well, let's go to I would say what I enjoyed the most out of our selection friends and lovers. This is War. Dominic West, Sienna Miller.

Oti: Oh, that's Sienna Miller.

KT: It is Sienna Miller.

Oti: Oh, okay.

KT: This is a legal drama, Friends and Lovers. We've watched a couple, two or three episodes. Three episodes. Yep. So not necessarily pilot season. Right off the bat, Friends and Lovers, I love this.

Oti: So okay. Okay. You start, my love. Delightful performances and sharp writing bring War to life with intriguing characters and just the right amount of messiness to keep you hooked. A deliciously entertaining watch.

KT: Sheridan Delicious?

Oti: Yeah. Yeah. Where McNulty is, it'll be deliciously to watch regardless. Oh, yes. Oh, yes. Or Dominic West in this case. And and tomfoolery afoot. Uh-huh.

KT: Classic premise, but solid writing keeps this cat and mouse double agenda on our toes. It's refreshing wanting one side to win, but also enjoying the seesaw repartee.

Oti: Seesaw repartee. Something peep torrents would say in this.

KT: Wow. Tim Gunn.

Oti: Yeah.

KT: Like, absolutely Tim Gunn energy. Exactly. Love to see it. Okay. Well, I I I will lean on you as our legal watching expert. I well, I was going to be like, oh, I haven't like, it's different to poll it like political things. And I was like, no. Actually, because we just talked about Cupertino and we tapped into the Kings of, like, The Good Wife, The Good Fight.

KT: There's also Suits. There's also Boston Legal. So then I started to realize, oh, actually, there are a lot of because, you know, when you think of, like, politics or you think about, like, propaganda, and then I guess in my head, there weren't many legal shows, but clearly, there are. Yeah. What where does this sit for you? There's obviously a a little bit of intrigue, a little bit of thriller, for lack of a better term. But where does it sit for you? And where is Marisa Tomei in this? But anyway

Oti: It feels a bit different in terms of sort of the legal shows I've watched in the past where this is still focusing on arbitration and all that. So the that's the sort of their twist. And at least for the past three episodes, it it feels fresh. It's not sort of that courtroom legal drama like The sage. Yeah. Like, Cupertino or anything like that. Far from it. Here, we get these two characters in Morgan and Carla where it's like, okay. Where you intrinsically as much as you love Dominic West, I think that's the only reason

Oti: Dominic West works so much in this because you have you can't immediately try and hate that character. Yeah. But because he's so endearing, you hate his actions, but you still feel, oh, oh my god. Just be better. I love scallion. Just just come on.

KT: Yeah. And, you know, like, literally had a show called The Affair. Was it Ruth Wilson? Yeah. The Affair. So I think you just like friends and lovers, obviously cheating is bad. But in the context of TV shows, in the context of his beautiful face and demeanor, that's just that's just garden variety. Dominic West, baby. You gotta share him with the streets. But he also has an ability for you to love him. Yeah. Maybe because you're not the one that's with him. But it's it's no spoiler that he steps out.

KT: I think the most unbelievable thing I'm experiencing watching this is that he had to be set up to trip into a pussy.

Oti: Because they've been married for how many years? How much of a setup is it though? It's like trying to set up Junassi.

KT: It's just It's gonna breathing. But what I'm saying is you're telling me because that baby is 16. Right? And I think he was very young when Morgan, like, came into his life. You're telling me over ten, fifteen years, Dominic West never slipped into someone else. Like, there's no way. Know he did. But that's what I'm saying. So so cutely, funnily, deliciously as Oti would say, Like, that feels a bit silly, but in the context of the show, I love it. I think you know what? There's been so many

KT: we can talk about the writers' strike, but also was it 2007? And then also the most recent writers' strike. Because that's why we don't have longer series now. And now you have the streaming model. That's why they have short series, and then it's also for, like, prestige cinema actors to dibble dabble in TV, but I guess, you know, not the the TV sort of title.

KT: Mhmm. I I don't know if I can think of any that have really grappled me and and stayed with me. I think of if I'm thinking right now, and this is even maybe even five years old, Nicole Kidman and Hugh Laurie.

Oti: Yep.

KT: That show. Mhmm. Obviously, the the devil in me, the devil is me, the devil was me with Matthew Rhys. But it's like because we watch so many of them, but not many of them have staying power. So that's what I'm really enjoying about War because the writing of it and the character dynamics. And even though I say cat and mouse, there's so there's so much delicious power balance or power imbalances and some some I'm hoping for some delicious cloak and daggering

KT: going on.

Oti: And I think that cloak and daggering is where Johnny slides in.

KT: Literally.

Oti: Yeah. And in a being in a position where I think when it started, you're like, yeah, I'm rooting for Johnny because he's pure. Working class. Yeah. We love our poor boys. Yeah. And just going through, I think, looking at it from his lens and seeing how he wants to sort of traverse this Carla Morgan situation. And you can tell there's a bit of feelings coming on as well. So

KT: Something like a leapfrog, like a leap lily pad. Yeah.

Oti: And and just the messiness of being in that sort of hoity toity rich people environment

KT: because It's like, who gives a fuck? If you've got $750,000,000, who cares if a fraction of that goes to your wife or your ex wife?

Oti: Yeah. Yeah. Johnny has an interesting girlfriend as well in terms of just Well,

KT: no. Because that's that's just what she is. She's just rich. Yeah. She's rich. She's never had to think about it. You know, it's it's literally the Succession. Like, it's just that side. It's it's it's a side of wealth that we will never really understand. Right? But I I enjoy the show so much. I I I hold on to each episode because I don't imagine we're gonna get a lot in a series like this, but it's been so great to watch. It's been so satisfying.

KT: It's like one of those high level quality chocolates, friends and lovers, that you just you might even get a nice bowl of wine. Who knows? See, I'm setting a mood. Nice. What a gorgeous mood it is.

Oti: Not so much wine, but a bloody liquid in nature. This is Carrie. We have watched the whole series, but we will non spoiler. A compelling modern adaptation that dials the shock factor to 11. Carrie maintains a steady pace, though its final two episodes stretch the crescendo a little too far, diluting the impact of its cause and effect. Right? Yeah.

KT: Okay. It's so interesting how our quotes are usually very similar. Foundation made for an interesting format as a TV show. However, material seemed to stretch as plot was resolved couple of episodes before finale, so stopped momentum and the interesting buildup. What did it want? Did it want it to be like a multi movie trilogy or did it wanna be a TV show because

KT: it kind of cocked it?

Oti: Because they wanted to set it up so that this the crescendo isn't the final thing, that Carrie can be more than just that. And I think that's where they're trying to take it with our possibility of season two, where whereas if it would have just ended in the, you know, if we've what we've all watched Carrie, the movie. So it's like, oh, the high school theme, that's the end. But no, there's still more. There's this interview or documentary sort of thing that they're trying to do,

Oti: which sort of peers into the, oh, there's a bit too much. There's a bit more to this world than just that. I I guess.

KT: Because as we were watching Chloe Grace Moretz, I wonder how she's doing. It's been a while since we've seen her actually. Mhmm. But when we watched that Carrie, and I don't think we've watched the original Carrie either, but we watched the Chloe Chloe Grace Moretz film adaptation. I thought it was like, I enjoyed it. I enjoyed watching that movie. So I wasn't really sure what a TV show would offer. I personally didn't really care for the opening of, I guess, if you've watched trailers, it's very reminiscent of like Netflix sit down

KT: documentary talking head sort of thing. Because I felt like, I don't know, like, oh, maybe this is the naivety in me. Like, I feel like they were trying to say, this is why Carrie got all the way fucked up. And I'm like, I don't care. Let her burn shit. This world, let her burn it all. So I didn't necessarily see the benefit in a TV show compared to a film because it keeps it nice and tight when you're trying to build to, I guess, that rage.

KT: But then the show grew on me, and there was a lot of really lovely sentiment and interest that was poured into the show. And our little baby Carrie, Summer H. Howell, I want to see her in everything. I felt emotional watching. Like, she really made the show. And I loved being able to channel what it's like to like, the world is fresh. The world is new. And, you know, even if the world does hurt, you would still wanna be out there and explore and then see what's, you know,

KT: and and learn more about yourself and the world around you. And I really I really resonated with that. I thought those themes were quite great. I wouldn't necessarily we watch a lot of shows. I guess you would classify this as like a young adult. Right? Yeah. But I'm so glad we took the time to watch it because there were so many lovely, beautiful, resonant moments, especially when it comes to Carrie's character.

KT: They did try and dibble dabble and explore other things. And also kids are fucking mean. Fucking hell. I I I think I'm just glad I didn't grow up in in

Oti: school when the those fucking social media.

KT: Yeah. I don't think I would have handled it. It's like you bully me now, but I'm going home. You can't escape home. It doesn't matter. Yeah. Just Like, there were so many lovely moments even between the counselor as well.

Oti: But yeah. And I think it shines a light on, you know, from be it cyberbullying or just the inactivity or however you wanna paint. Like, teachers' jobs are hard enough, but I think there's so much more that can be done as well in that space. Oh, yeah. Because we get All the teachers were looking at the social medias doing nothing. Ugh.

KT: Nothing. But again, the writing was very good, but I guess the downside to giving your quote unquote villain dimension, it then doesn't compel us to action, I guess. So the momentum was kinda gone by the last two episodes personally, and I think you also mentioned that as well.

KT: But for the journey that it was before we even got there, I love like, it was it was at that point, it was a 10 out of 10 for me right up until the last couple of episodes of the season. I think I'm dropping it to a four out of five just because you cheapened it. They made it seem like we're going to get another season. And I'm like, come on, man. You know what? I forgot what the name was.

KT: I don't even remember if we did it on the main podcast or even on our Patreon, but there was a specific show that came out around the time of the pandemic. I don't know if it was called pandemic, but it was based on, like, a comic book creator. You know what I'm talking about? It had like a bunny head.

Oti: Oh,

KT: it was an it was an Amazon Prime show. Yes. Yeah. The last two episodes started to feel like that. And I was like, no, I don't I don't like this. I I don't like where this is going. I guess it can be what it can be. But yeah, that's I guess that's just how I was feeling. I'm not talking about the recent Amazon one. Utopia?

Oti: Yes. Utopia.

KT: Because it presented as one thing, and then it turned into the perfect convention. What was his name? Corinthian. Yeah. That's Sandman. Like it's yeah. I'm not saying it can't go a particular direction, but especially in regards to Carrie, I think the show did what it did very well. Even if they wanted to, you know, go into another

KT: if you've watched Carrie, you can kind of guess where the direction might go, but I'm not gonna spoil it. That didn't need to be tacked on at the end. They could have just introduced that in the second season. Yeah. And I'm just glad despite all the sort of

Oti: bad things that are happening, there were some very nice heartwarming moments. Tim Bagley is always nice to see. He has such a kind face.

KT: Yeah. I thought you said Penn Badgley for a second, and I'm like, Penn Bellingham? 30 Rock reference, friends and lovers. But, yeah, I I do not regret the time that we spent watching this. I'm so glad. I'm so I'm so happy that we got to watch the show. But, yeah, like,

KT: would never wanna be a kid again.

Oti: Yeah. And big up to Cassandra Naud. We we know from
