POLL: Which Major Actor Should Star in Kevin Feige’s Star Wars?
Last week brought the exciting news that Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige is developing a Star Wars movie with Kathleen Kennedy! Feige reportedly told a major actor that there is a role for them if the project gets off the ground. ComingSoon.net asked its readers which big star they think should be the lead in this film, and over 2000 of you responded! Will it be an MCU star? Check out the official results of the poll below!
Which major actor should star in Kevin Feige’s Star Wars?
Robert Downey Jr. (17%, 365 votes)
Keanu Reeves (15%, 319 votes)
Idris Elba (9%, 191 votes)
Chris Evans (8%, 181 votes)
Leonardo DiCaprio (5%, 112 votes)
RDJ’s placement at the top was no surprise, given his close alignment with Marvel Studios, where his reign as Iron Man recently ended. Coming in close is Keanu Reeves, whom Kevin Feige has said is consistently approached for roles in MCU movies such as the Jude Law role in Captain Marvel. However, given that he’s returning to Matrix-land, is another role in a high-profile sci-fi franchise really feasible for the John Wick actor? Coming in third is Idris Elba, who has already had a run in several big sci-fi tentpoles like Prometheus, Pacific Rim and Star Trek Beyond., and who would fit in well in the Star Wars universe. Another MCU vet, Chris Evans, scored fourth place, and would be a great choice considering how great he was in the underseen sci-fi film Sunshine. And coming in at #5 is Leonardo DiCaprio, who was originally a front-runner to play Anakin Skywalker in Attack of the Clones, losing out to Hayden Christensen.

Feige has long been a vocal fan of the Star Wars franchise, going so far as to include a character getting a hand/limb severed in EVERY Phase 2 movie from Marvel Studios as a nod to Luke Skywalker’s hand amputation in The Empire Strikes Back. Countless jokes and references to the galaxy far, far away have been peppered into the MCU as well, such as Peter Parker’s reference to “that old movie” (also referring to Episode V).
When could the film be released? It’s unclear, but might not be for a few years. Both Feige and Lucasfilm have their hands full with a variety of projects. Marvel Studios just unveiled a slate of films and television series through at least 2022, plus the recent acquisition of the 20th Century Fox brand means the X-Men and Fantastic Four will be having their own homecoming to the MCU in the near future. As for Lucasfilm, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will debut this December, with three more untitled Star Wars movies already set for 2022, 2024, and 2026. It’s believed that these release dates belong to the trilogy from Game of Thrones creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss’, but a trilogy from The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson also remains in development with likely other unannounced Star Wars projects in the wings (not to mention Indiana Jones and Children of Blood and Bone).
